Auckland to Cape Reinga, New Zealand

Before leaving Northland, we drove through Waipu Gorge and stopped to do the walk down to Piroa Falls. The track is a short, steep zigzag down through bush into the gorge, built and upgraded courtesy of Maungaturoto Rotary Club. We crossed the Ahuroa River on a concrete slab bridge with 'Rotary 1983' engraved on it, walked another five minutes before coming to the picturesque Piroa Falls. I imagine these pools would be great in summer for a swim.
